A Conservation Success Story The Giraffe Centre was founded in 1979 by conservationists Jock and Betty Leslie-Melville to save the Rothschild's giraffe from extinction. At the time, only 130 of these giraffes remained in the wild. Since its founding, the center has had incredible success, with over 40 giraffes bred and released back into protected areas across Kenya.
